Cinekid has confirmed the 20 children’s film and television projects in development and works in progress that will be presented at its Junior Co-production Market (JCM) in October.

The diverse selection includes live-action and animation projects from Norway, Germany and the Netherlands. There will also be three projects from Latin America for the first time. The projects will be presented to international children’s media industry professionals at the market to facilitate their future development and production.

This year’s JCM selection includes two projects from previous Cinekid Script LAB/Directors LAB programs. Gorgius, directed by Samuele Rossi, written by Rossi and Tommaso Santi and produced by Italy’s Solaria Film, will be presented simultaneously in JCM and the Script LAB program. The work in progress Kiddo, written and directed by Zara Dwinger and produced by Studio Ruba (the Netherlands), was part of Script LAB in 2020 and Directors LAB in 2022.

At Junior Co-production Market, two prizes will be handed out: the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (€20,000 in cash) will be presented to the best eligible film project with European co-production potential, and the Filmmore Post-Production Award will be given to the best live-action project of the Junior Co-Production Market. The latter, which comes with a €5,000 prize, forms an invitation to start a collaboration with the Dutch visual effects and postproduction lab Filmmore. All winners will be announced on October 22 during the Cinekid Ball.

The complete list of the selected film projects includes Achoo, Hiccups & CO (ahoifilm, Germany), Babu in the Night City (Kuli Film, Radim Prochazka; Czech Republic, Portugal), Gorgius (Solaria Film, Arsmedia; Italy, Slovenia), Greetings from Mars (Leitwolf Filmproduktion, Germany), Halloween (Lucy Animation Studio, Colombia), Mira (Toolbox Film, Denmark), Showtime: The Rise and Fall of Laki and Sara (Sense Production; Serbia, Germany), The Legends of Magnus the God (A Film Production AS, Kool Produktion AS, Phanta Animation; Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands) and Tora’s Secret (Polarama, Iceland).
