Cinekid for Professionals has selected a total of 25 projects for its Junior Co-production Market (JCM), including 19 children’s film and television projects-in-development and 6 works-in-progress.

At the JCM, which will be held October 21 to 23 during the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam, the projects will be presented to more than 300 international professionals from the children’s media industry. The selection includes both live-action and animated projects.

Several of the projects in this year’s JCM selection were developed during Cinekid’s 2018-2019 Script LAB program. Among these projects is Snot and Splash, represented by It’s Alive Films from Finland, written by Ilja Rautsi and directed by Teemu Nikki. New Stories will pitch Winning by Andrés Hazelius. The Beanie from Slovenia and the documentary project Kids Cup were also participants of Script LAB 2018-19.

For the first time, Cinekid will have a works-in-progress section to provide long-term support for projects in development. In this session, the production teams for the six projects selected will have the opportunity to present their work in a closed setting for potential partners.

Three prizes will be handed out at JCM: the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, for which €20,000 ($22,300) will be given to the best eligible film project with European co-production potential; the Best TV Project Award €10,000 ($11,100) for the Best TV project within the JCM selection; and the Filmmore Post-Production Award €5,000 ($5,600) for the best live-action project of the JCM. Winners will be announced on October 23.
