LONDON/LOS ANGELES: CBeebies has commissioned the original new preschool show Moon and Me from Andrew Davenport’s Foundling Bird and Sutikki, Bento Box Entertainment’s new kids’ and family arm.

Moon and Me, which marks the first production from Foundling Bird and Sutikki, was created, written and produced by Davenport, co-creator of Teletubbies and creator of In the Night Garden. The 50×22-minute series tells the story of the special friendship between two characters from very different worlds. It is slated to begin airing on CBeebies early next year.

Sutikki is the primary production, merchandising and non-U.K. distribution partner for Moon and Me. Pre-production has kicked off at multiple locations in the U.S. and in the U.K.

Davenport said: “I’m thrilled—over the moon—at this commission from CBeebies to create an innovative preschool series that will honor the heritage of our previous work together. The time is right for a new approach to preschool storytelling and—like In the Night Garden and Teletubbies, 10 and 20 years ago, respectively—Moon and Me will pioneer new production techniques to create the highest standard of quality programming for the CBeebies audience.”

Kay Benbow, controller for CBeebies, noted: “Moon and Me is a delightful new series with charming stories and innovative production techniques that will really resonate with our viewers and support their creative development.”

“As Sutikki’s first production, and Bento Box Entertainment’s official entry into the kids’ space, we set the bar extremely high by teaming with the best in the business,” added Irene Weibel, partner at Sutikki. “We know the benefits of our collaborative relationship with Foundling Bird will be immeasurable and are honored that CBeebies has chosen to be a very important part of Andy’s latest endeavor.”
