CBeebies has commissioned season two of Maramedia’s Olga da Polga.

From best-selling children’s author Michael Bond (Paddington), Olga da Polga follows the adventures of a guinea pig, her animal friends and the Sawdust family. The live-action drama features 2D animation and talking animal VFX.

Olga da Polga stars the real-life couple Julie Wilson Nimmo (Balamory), who plays Mrs. Sawdust, and Greg Hempill (Still Game) as Mr. Sawdust. Isla Mercer is Karen. Olga is voiced by Lesley Harcourt.

The series is directed by Michael Hines and Andrew Agnew. The lead writer is Sara Daddy (Lily’s Driftwood Bay, Puffin Rock, Claude), with the score composed by Emmy award-winning Welsh composer Brollyman. VFX and animation are provided by Doghouse in Bristol and Interference Pattern in Edinburgh.

Jackie Savery, creative director for Maramedia, said: “In today’s troubled times, the funny and engaging stories of Michael Bond’s Olga the guinea pig and her friends offer reassuring and life-affirming stories full of warmth and fun. We’re thrilled that CBeebies has commissioned a second series.”
