Beyond Rights has acquired the international distribution rights, excluding Italy and Spanish-language territories, for the kids’ animated series Nina & Olga.

Inspired by the book series Olga the Cloud by Nicoletta Costa, Nina & Olga follows 6-year-old Nina as she begins school alongside her classmate Teo and their special friend Olga, a light young cloud. Together, they embark on adventures, learning about the events and challenges of everyday life and how to understand and manage their still unknown feelings and emotions.

Co-produced by Enanimation and Mondo TV Producciones Canarias in partnership with Rai Ragazzai, Nina & Olga is currently in production and being created in a 2D animation style. The series will premiere on RaiPlay and RaiYoyo later this year.

Sarah McCormack, Beyond Rights’ senior VP of acquisitions and co-productions, said: “Very few kids tv series come with the existing brand awareness and pedigree of Nina & Olga: Nicoletta Costa’s books have sold around the world and been translated in every language imaginable—from Russian and Turkish to Chinese and English. And there is a huge selection of stories to draw upon, ensuring longevity and volume for television.

She added: “We were immediately charmed by Nina & Olga and had no hesitation in acquiring the series; Olga is the BFF that every little kid wants to have, Nina is a joyous and curious young girl, and the light touch when dealing with emotions, as well as topical subjects such as sustainability and inclusivity, will ensure the series is popular with kids, and their parents and caregivers. Meanwhile, for broadcasters, in addition to a wonderful series for young audiences, there is the reassurance of huge off-air support with an extensive international licensing and merchandising program already in development.”

Federica Maggio, producer at Enanimation, added: “I am incredibly happy that our wonderful Nina & Olga franchise will be able to count on such a strong distribution partner as Beyond Rights. The team’s international expertise and enthusiasm for the series, coupled with the enormous potential of this property will, I’m sure, lead to great success for us all.”
