The Australian animation and visual effects studio Animal Logic has merged into Netflix’s global animation studio structure nearly two years after its acquisition by the streamer.

Animal Logic CEO Sharon Taylor has resigned, and Karen Toliver, VP and leader of Netflix Animation Film, will take over CEO duties for the studio. Toliver joined Netflix in 2022 from Sony Pictures Animation, where she produced the Oscar-winning short Hair Love and spearheaded Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Taylor was promoted to CEO last June from her previous post of chief operating officer after 20 years with Animal Logic.

Since being acquired by Netflix, Animal Logic has produced two animated features for the streamer: Wendy Rogers’ adaptation of the Kate DiCamillo fantasy The Magician’s Elephant and the reptile bucket-list adventure Leo, starring Adam Sandler. The studio is now working on Ron Howard’s animated feature directorial debut, The Shrinking of Treehorn, based on the book by Florence Parry Heide.

Animal Logic has also been tapped for as-yet undated projects for Warner Bros. (TotoZero) and another for Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, the Australian Aboriginal culture-inspired Rainbow Serpent.
