La Cabane and Thuristar have set the voice cast for their special A Lamb’s Stew, with Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Black Panther) starring as one of the leads.

The film tells the story of a young lamb who sets out to lure a wolf into a trap but soon discovers that he isn’t the monster she thought he was. Serkis, who voices the wolf, is joined in the cast by T’Nia Miller (Sex Education, Years and Years) and newcomer Iris Onyejiuwa.

Other cast members include Keith Wickham, Harriet Carmichael, Tibby Radcliffe, Hal Radcliffe and Mackenzie Bruce-Lockhart.

A Lamb’s Stew is helmed by Joeri Christiaen (Mush-Mush, My Knight and Me) as director and art director. Christiaen also wrote the film and worked alongside Claire Paoletti (Shoom’s Odyssey) as story consultant during the project’s initial development phase and Julia Smuts Louw (Star Wars: Visions—Aau’s Song, The Smeds and the Smoos) as script editor for the final script. The special is being produced via the open-source software Blender.

“Andy Serkis’s work, particularly on Caesar in Planet of the Apes, was a source of inspiration for writing the character of the wolf–although I didn’t dare imagine that he would one day play the role,” Christiaen said. “As for T’Nia Miller, the quality of her performance in the teaser led me to make Miss Shearlington a central character in the story. I’m equally honored to be working with Iris Onyejiuwa, who is playing her very first role in the film.”
