TV Kids Festival Adds Elmo to Lineup

The beloved children’s character Elmo of Sesame Street will be taking part in the TV Kids Festival, running from February 17 to 20. You can register for free here.

Elmo first appeared in 1979 and has since been in thousands of Sesame Street episodes and countless other spin-offs and brand extensions. During the TV Kids Festival session, he will talk about his attendance of the upcoming Olympics and the importance of kindness. In a previously announced separate session, Sesame Workshop’s Kay Wilson Stallings will discuss her company’s ongoing commitment to helping children.

Elmo was played by Brian Muehl from 1980 to 1984, followed by Richard Hunt from 1984 to 1985. Kevin Clash puppeteered Elmo for 27 years, from 1985 to 2012, when Ryan Dillon took over.

Elmo joins the previously announced festival participants: Sesame Workshop’s Kay Wilson Stallings, Evan Shapiro, Super RTL’s Oliver Schablitzki, Sky Kids’ Ian France, CAKE’s Ed Galton, Hidden Pigeon Company’s Karen K. Miller, PBS KIDS’ Adriano Schmid, CBC Kids’ Marie McCann, ZDF Studios’ Oliver Grundel, Magic Light Pictures’ Muriel Thomas, Kidoodle.TV’s Brenda Bisner and HappyKids’ David Di Lorenzo.
