Sesame Workshop Expands Sesame Street European Presence

Sesame Workshop Europe has found new partners for Sesame Street content and experiences in Germany, Iberia, the Netherlands and more.

“The world’s longest street is getting even longer as Sesame Workshop expands its presence across Europe and beyond,” said Bernhard Gloeggler, VP and general manager for Sesame Workshop Europe. “We’re thrilled to be working with several incredible distribution and licensing partners to create more opportunities for audiences around the world to experience the magic of Sesame Street—both on-screen and in their everyday lives.”

In Germany, the 52nd season of Sesamstraße recently debuted on NDR and featured guest appearances from Siegfried & Joy and Riccardo Simonetti. Reclam will be releasing three new books in Germany—Ein Ratgeber für Genießer, Krümelmonsters krümeliger Adventskalender and Krümelmonsters Notizbuch. In addition, Sesame Workshop Europe teamed with Stiftung EAR, the German foundation that serves as the central authority for the Elektro-Altgeräte Register, for educational videos on environmental awareness and the proper disposal of electrical devices.

In Iberia, a new Sesame Street channel will launch on YouTube next month. Sesame Street Castiliano will contain episodes of 175 episodes of Sesame Street, 52 episodes of The Furchester Hotel and two holiday specials, all fully dubbed in Castilian Spanish.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the Dutch version of Sesame Street, Sesamstraat. Last month, Bert and Ernie were special guests at the Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala. More celebrations will take place throughout the year for Dutch audiences.

Sesame Workshop teamed up with football club Borussia Dortmund to promote education, diversity, inclusion, exercise, sustainability and health for children. The collaboration kicked off on World Children’s Day on September 21, when Sesamstraße’s Samson visited Signal Iduna Park for the BVB vs VfL Wolfsburg game and took photos with fans. The collaboration also includes a range of BVB x Sesamstraße products. A range of events and digital activities featuring Sesamstraße characters and BVB mascot EMMA will be implemented in the BVB KidsClub in the future.

For CEE, Sesame Workshop appointed DeAPlaneta Entertainment as its licensing agent to manage all merchandising, publishing, home video, audio and promotional licensing related to the Sesame Street brand.

Fans everywhere in the world are able to access the new Roblox experience, Sesame Street: Neighborhood Adventures, and Sesame Street will be available globally on Netflix soon.
