CAKE Inks Deal with Wonderstorm for The Dragon Prince

CAKE has signed a deal with Wonderstorm to distribute seven seasons of the fantasy adventure series The Dragon Prince, created by Aaron Ehasz (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Justin Richmond (Uncharted).

The Dragon Prince is a groundbreaking series that has captured audiences around the world with its epic storytelling and emotional depth,” commented Dominic Gardiner, managing director of distribution at CAKE. “We are thrilled to be working with Wonderstorm to bring all seven seasons to global buyers and to expand the franchise’s reach across every platform. With its universal themes of family, friendship and courage, The Dragon Prince is exactly the kind of bold, premium content CAKE is proud to champion.”

The series follows the journey of two human princes and an elven assassin, who uncover a long-long secret: the egg of the Dragon Prince, thought to have been destroyed. The discovery holds the power to end a bitter war between humans and elves, but the trio must first embark on a perilous quest.

The final chapter of the saga, The Dragon King, was announced in July through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, which reached its goal in under five hours.

The animation for The Dragon Prince is by Bardel Entertainment (Rick and Morty, Teen Titans Go!, Dinotrux, Diary of a Wimpy Kid). The series won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2020 for outstanding children’s animated series.

“We’re so happy to partner with Ed [Galton], Dom and the entire CAKE team to bring The Dragon Prince and The Dragon King to audiences worldwide” Ehasz, CEO of Wonderstorm, said.

Richmond, chief creative officer at Wonderstorm, added, “We set out to tell a universal story, one with deep characters, epic stakes and a core of optimism and unity. Expanding The Dragon Prince’s global reach has always been our goal, and CAKE shares our vision and has the expertise to make it a reality.”
