High School Musical Series Gets Second Season on Disney+

Disney+ has renewed High School Musical: The Musical: The Series ahead of its debut on the streaming platform next month.

Inspired by the High School Musical franchise movies, the series introduces members of the East High School drama club and their faculty advisors as they work their way to opening night of their new musical. Production on season two is to resume early next year.

The first season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will debut on Disney+ on Tuesday, November 12. This will follow the airing of the premiere across ABC, Disney Channel and Freeform on Friday, November 8 at 8 p.m. The series stars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee’, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Mark St. Cyr and Kate Reinders. It was created and is executive produced by Tim Federle, who also wrote the first episode. The first episode was directed by Tamra Davis. Oliver Goldstick, Davis and executive producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush also serve as executive producers of the first episode.
