BBC Studios has tied up with Alibaba Group’s video streaming platform Youku, which will deliver more than 100 hours of CBeebies children’s content to audiences in China.

As part of this collaboration, the Australian production Bluey will be dubbed in Chinese and is set to premiere on Youku. Bluey follows the adventures of a lovable and inexhaustible 6-year-old Blue Heeler puppy, who lives with her dad, mum and 4-year-old little sister, Bingo.

BBC Studios’ children’s programs that will be available on Youku later this year include Yakka Dee, My World Kitchen and My Pet and Me.

Henrietta Hurford-Jones, director of children’s content at BBC Studios, said: “We are very pleased that through Youku, preschoolers in China will have greater access to premium CBeebies content such as Yakka Dee and Bluey. We are exceptionally excited for the Chinese-dubbed version of Bluey, and we are confident that the warmth and authenticity of Bluey’s family will resonate with Chinese families.”

Aaron Liao, general manager of Youku Kids, commented: “BBC Studios has a track record of producing quality children’s content that is not only entertaining, but also educational and heartwarming. We are proud to expand our children’s content library with the latest programs from BBC Studios, and look forward to deepening our partnership in the future.”
