International Emmy Kids Award Winners Celebrated at MIPTV

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in partnership with Reed MIDEM, held the seventh annual International Emmy Kids Awards this evening (April 9) in Cannes, where seven winners were announced from five different countries—Brazil, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and the U.K.

Produced by the U.K.-based Studio AKA, the second installment of Hey Duggee won in the preschool category. The award for animation went to Kop op (Heads Together) from Viking Film, VPRO Television and Job, Joris & Marieke in the Netherlands. In the digital category, it was Overgrep (Sexual abuse awareness week) from NRK Bivrost in Norway that was the victor.

My Life: Born To Vlog from Blakeway North in the U.K. won the factual award this year, while the winner in non-scripted entertainment was Fixa Bröllopet (Marrying mum and dad) from Fremantle Sverige in Sweden.

Malhação: Viva a Diferença (Young Hearts), produced by TV Globo in Brazil, took home the best series statue. Lastly, the best TV movie/miniseries award went to Ratburger from King Bert Productions.

International Academy President Bruce L. Paisner said: “This is a difficult world for children to grow up in, with an increasing list of social problems and enormous change. The winning programs help entertain, educate and prepare our children for the world they are about to face. This is an honorable task.”

The 2019 International Emmy Kids Awards were held at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. Presenting the statues at the MIPTV event were TV personalities such as Mira Awad, creator of the drama series Muna, about a young Arab woman living in Tel Aviv; Lebanese TV host Annabella Hilal; and Finnish actor Pelle Heikkilä.
