CAKE has snapped up the distribution rights for Nick LatAm’s hit musical teen comedy Kally’s MashUp in certain territories.

CAKE will oversee the exclusive broadcast rights in the U.K. and Ireland, Northern and Eastern Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa. The 75×60-minute show debuted on Nickelodeon in Latin America late last year.

Kally’s MashUp was created by Adam Anders, Glee‘s executive music producer. Featuring original songs, the series follows a 13-year-old music prodigy as she moves from a small town to a prominent music academy, where she is the youngest student. It is co-produced by Nick LatAm, Anders Media and 360 Powwow, with Anders and Powwow CEO Daniel Gutman executive producing.

Ed Galton, the CCO and managing director at CAKE, commented: “We were deeply impressed with the level of quality Adam and Daniel were able to achieve in this musical series. Kally’s MashUp has already achieved some impressive figures and its original musical score with songs shot in English gives this unique format huge global potential.”

Gutman noted: “It is a privilege for us as producers and for Kally’s MashUp as a uniquely original show to have CAKE as a travel companion to expand its international journey into new demanding territories.”

Anders, the CEO of Anders Media, added: “Working on something this fresh and exciting and at the same time uniquely personal has been a dream. We could not be more thrilled with everyone involved from cast and crew to our production partners, and are happy to add CAKE to the list of people adding real value to this project.”
