Russell Hicks Steps Down at Nickelodeon

LOS ANGELES: Russell Hicks has resigned as president of content development and production at Nickelodeon Group, where he has worked for nearly two decades.

During his time as president of content development and production, Hicks oversaw Nickelodeon Group’s live-action, animation development and production teams for all of its content platforms and across all of its channels. He was responsible for a development and production slate that included more than a dozen new live-action, animation and TV-movie projects aimed at post-Millennial viewers.

Hicks helped realign the company’s development team, organizing Nick’s animation, live-action, digital, movies, talent and short-form into a single cohesive group. He also initiated an animated-shorts program and opened a sketch lab for live action in Los Angeles, among many other accomplishments. Previously, Hicks served as Nickelodeon’s chief creative officer. Before joining the company, he was the VP of marketing for Cartoon Network/Turner brands at Warner Bros. He began his career as an animator.

Hicks’s resignation is effective immediately. At this time, there are no plans for his position to be replaced.
