The Search Lands Second Spanish Adaptation

The Mediapro Studio has licensed The Search from Keshet International for a new Spanish adaptation for Canal Sur Televisión following the success of an adaptation on Aragón TV.

“We are thrilled to see The Search gaining momentum in Spain,” said Kelly Wright, managing director of distribution at Keshet International. “With a brilliantly simple concept at its core, The Search is a compelling format because it’s so adaptable, as proved by The Mediapro Studio’s Sopa de Letras for Aragón TV, where it’s been a runaway success with three seasons in 12 months, increasing the channel’s share by 39 percent and creating viewer loyalty.”

The Mediapro Studio has already produced three seasons of Sopa de Letras (Alphabet Soup) for Aragón TV in 12 months. That version of the series was hosted by Miki Nadal.

The new stripped daily show for Canal Sur Televisión will be hosted by Antonio Garrido. From Monday to Friday, two pairs of contestants will showcase their knowledge and compete for a jackpot of €10,000.

The Search was originally created by Youngest Media and Keshet International for Keshet 12. The first international adaptation was produced in Uruguay, where Keshet International licensed the format to Canal 4. This past summer, the format was licensed in Belgium to Free Kings, where VRT’s Ketnet channel commissioned the first children’s adaptation of the format. The format is also under option in the U.K., Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, the Netherlands and Greece.
