TEL AVIV: Armoza Formats’ studio game show Babushka has been licensed in Spain by TVG, with the first season slated to air daily beginning next week.

The local Spanish version is produced by Productora Faro and is comprised of 65 episodes. In addition, French prodco CBecauseTV snapped up local rights for the format, becoming the sixth territory to license Babushka.

Created by Armoza Formats, Babushka challenges contestants to open eight out of ten giant Russian babushka dolls for the chance to win up to $500,000. If the doll the contestant chooses to open contains another doll inside, he or she continues to play, but if a babushka is empty, the contestant loses any money that was previously accumulated.

Avi Armoza, the CEO of Armoza Formats, said, “We’re seeing a strong trend of game shows coming back into the spotlight and Babushka is no exception. Its exciting and dynamic game play ensures that it will keep viewers on the edge of their couches and we are thrilled to see it enter into these two key European territories.”
