Something Special Taps CJ ENM Alum to Lead Sales

Something Special has added CJ ENM alum Hayoung Rhee as its new VP and head of sales.

Rhee spent more than 13 years at CJ ENM, where she served as general manager of the entertainment division. Prior to that, she worked at Mnet, OCN and Universal Music Korea. She will be part of the Something Special team attending ATF.

“I am very excited to join the amazing team at Something Special, a pioneer that has been leading the format market in Korea,” Rhee said. “I can’t wait to share our latest content lineup at ATF and other upcoming content markets worldwide.”

The new hire comes just after Something Special’s new format Unforgettable Duet made its Korean debut, with the first two episodes achieving number one in their time slots among pay-TV households. The format follows a dementia patient and a family member on a journey to remember.

Jin Woo Hwang, president and executive producer at the company, stated, “Something Special is so thrilled that our beloved series launched its full season on MBN to great success. After two weeks on air, the show earned top ratings and continues to attract new viewers. The show’s producer, Jacob Han, and Something Special’s head of production will travel to ATF along with our esteemed new VP and head of sales, Hayoung Rhee—who we welcome with open arms! Also heading to ATF is our top sales executive, Courtney Boyett. Our team is stronger than ever, and we look forward to furthering our mission of spreading Korean formats around the globe.”
