SINGAPORE: Scripps Networks Interactive is marking the one-year anniversary of HGTV in the Asia Pacific by commissioning the channel’s first long-form original production, House Hunters Asia.

House Hunters Asia is set to air on HGTV in the second quarter of 2016. It is based on the U.S. format House Hunters and follows prospective buyers across Asia as they negotiate the obstacles of buying real estate. The new six-part series is produced by Endemol Shine and will be filmed in Singapore and Malaysia beginning in January.

“After just one year, HGTV has built strong viewership, maintained consistent ratings and has held its leading position as the number one lifestyle channel in Singapore,” said Derek Chang, the managing director of Scripps Networks Interactive for Asia Pacific. “As part of our desire to create locally relevant content for HGTV, Scripps Networks is commissioning its first original production for HGTV, House Hunters Asia. This new production is further testament to our continued investment in the region and our commitment to producing local original productions for HGTV.”

HGTV is part of the Scripps Networks family of lifestyle channels available in Asia, which also includes Asian Food Channel, Food Network and Travel Channel.
