NTV has inked a deal with ARB TV in Azerbaijan for a local version of Secret for a Million.

Secret for a Million offers celebrities a chance to win RUB 1.5 million ($21,840) by disclosing their most closely guarded personal secret. Hosted by Lera Kudryavtseva, the show’s guests include actors, musicians and politicians. As most of the celebrities give their winnings to charity, Secret for a Million’s guests have donated over RUB 30 million ($436,800) in total so far.

Timur Weinstein, NTV general producer, said: “We are actively expanding our foreign presence, promoting our own-made, unique content. Secret for a Million is one of our best projects that has been the staple of NTV’s broadcasting schedule for a few years. We are happy to see it crossing the Russian borders. The licensing contracts are currently in negotiations in several other countries, and we hope that next year our show’s going to be adapted in three territories.”

Rashad Mamedov, ARB TV CEO, added: “Technically, Secret for a Million is a relatively simple project, but it offers explosive potential when it comes to viewership interest. Its long-running success in Russia is convincing enough. That combination was what made us choose Secret for a Million among the multitude of similar formats around the world. We hope that next season our adapted version of Secret for a Million is going to be one of the main drivers of our channel’s popularity that has been growing for the last three years, and that Azerbaijani audiences are going to love it just as much as Russian do.”
