Among a set of new format deals from ITV Studios, Side Hustlers and Double the Money have been commissioned in South Africa.
Side Hustlers, originally developed by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, follows entrepreneurs as they transform their passion projects into full-fledged businesses. The show aired on The Roku Channel in the U.S. and has been commissioned for a second season. Through Primedia, South Africa will be the first territory to produce a local adaptation of this format.
The Double the Money deal is also through Primedia. The U.K.-originated format pits pairs against the clock to double their starting funds through strategic and high-pressure challenges. It secured its first international commission outside the U.K. in Denmark for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max.
My Mum, Your Dad, meanwhile, is heading to Belgium, with RTL bringing the local adaptation to Wallonia. Belgium is the 11th territory, after Brazil, Poland and French Canada were announced last year. Created by father-daughter duo Greg and Haley Daniels, My Mum, Your Dad offers single parents a second chance at love with their adult children secretly playing matchmaker.
Also in the dating format arena, Videoland in the Netherlands recorded its own version of I Kissed a Girl in South Africa last month to air in the spring, and Norway is set to introduce I Kissed a Boy soon.
Ruth Berry, president of global partnerships and Zoo 55 at ITV Studios, commented: “We are thrilled to see these entrepreneurial and diverse formats expanding into new markets. We hope these fresh concepts are just what viewers have been waiting for.”
