LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has closed deals for several formats in Brazil, with Globo picking up the rights for the entertainment show Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Globo-produced 13-episode version of Saturday Night Takeaway will be featured as a segment within the broadcaster’s Saturday evening show, Caldeirão do Huck. It will air later this year. Globo has additionally commissioned a fifth 30-episode season of its version of Come Dine With Me, which will also air later this year. These productions join the network’s version of the factual-entertainment format, The Audience.

Meanwhile, SBT has commissioned Formata to make a second 14-episode season of BBQ Brasil, based on the format BBQ Champ, to air early in 2017. The broadcaster has also recommissioned its version of the reality format Hell’s Kitchen for a fourth 15-episode run, to premiere this fall. The fourth series will again be produced by FremantleMedia Brazil.

Christina Covarrubias, the director of sales for Latin America at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “Brazil has been a key focus of our Latin American formats business this year and it’s exciting to see this strategy come to fruition with these latest deals. Saturday Night Takeaway is an entertainment phenomenon that fits perfectly in Globo’s Saturday evening show, while the other recommissions demonstrate that our unscripted formats are proving as popular in Brazil as they are with viewers around the globe.”
