LONDON: Brazilian broadcaster Bandeirantes has ordered its own version of all3media International’s Kitchen Nightmares.

The 13-episode show will be produced by Eyeworks as Pesadelo na Cozinha. Launching in 2017, the Brazilian adaptation comes on the heels of the success of the Argentine version, Pesadilla en la Cocina, on Telefe. There was also a Chilean version on Chilevision.

Other recent deals on the show, which originated on Channel 4, include a first-time commission by TVI in Portugal and a sixth-season renewal by Atresmedia in Spain.

“We’re very excited to bring all3media’s Kitchen Nightmares to Brazil in 2017,” said Diego Guebel, content director at Bandeirantes. “Latin America has a booming restaurant industry with many superb chefs that could bring their own unique style to the show. We’ve already secured the talents of chef Érick Jacquin for our new series and look forward to working closely with Érick and Eyeworks to create a fantastic prime-time series packed with real-life entertainment and inspiring stories.”

Facundo Bailez, sales manager for EMEA South and Latin America (formats) at all3media International, commented, “I’m very pleased to announce this brand-new commission for Kitchen Nightmares as we head to MIP Cancun, underlining our ongoing success across Latin America. We’re also in discussion on a number of further format deals in the territory, including local adaptations of audience favorite Gogglebox and Studio Lambert’s fantastic new topical comedy show Common Sense.”
