BEVERLY HILLS: Starz in on board for an American adaptation of the hit British comedy Peep Show, which ended with its ninth season on Channel 4 at the end of last year.

Peep Show, which launched in 2003, received eight awards over the course of its run, including two BAFTAs. Series creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong will be consulting producers on the version for Starz, which will be produced by Objective Media Group America. Eli Jorne will write the pilot and serve as executive producer/showrunner.

Peep Show gives a unique spin to relationship comedy—it’s a great opportunity for Starz to innovate in the half-hour space,” said Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz.

“We are hugely relieved to hand over the responsibility of coming up with the dark and twisted thoughts of two terrible men to the extremely funny, dark and twisted Eli Jorne,” Bain and Armstrong said in a joint statement.

“I feel lucky to be working with Starz again,” said Jorne. “And I’m, of course, grateful to Sam and Jesse for entrusting me with nine seasons’ worth of insightful, darkly hilarious material that I can hopefully pass off to American audiences as my own.”
