The Auction Lands Italian Iteration

Dori Media Group and Abot Hameiri’s new original game show The Auction is getting an Italian version, produced by Blu Yazmine.

“Following our successful debut of The Auction in Peru on América Televisión, we are excited to now travel this new format for the first time and bring it to Italian audiences,” said Dori Media’s CEO Nadav Palti. “And we are thrilled that the team at Blu Yazmine, who have successfully produced many of the world’s top unscripted formats in Italy, have retained the local rights to the series and are currently developing a new version of The Auction.”

The Auction debuted in Peru on América Televisión as La Subasta and became the number one show in its prime-time slot during the summer and into the fall.

In the format, two families compete without knowing what is inside the mysterious auction boxes, relying only on bizarre AI-generated clues that get more absurd as the bidding intensifies. Each team uses an equal budget to try and acquire prizes with the highest real-world value. Viewers can also take part, guessing the identity of the hidden prizes.

“For the first time in a game show, the tension and excitement of a live auction extend to the audience at home, who become active participants, trying to outsmart the contestants and predict what’s really being sold,” said Roee Strikovski, CEO of Abot Hameiri, part of Fremantle Israel.
