The Red Arrow Studios company 44 Blue Productions has acquired the rights to Mission: Accessible, a U.K. unscripted format from Rockerdale Studios.

44 Blue Productions will adapt the show for a U.S. audience under the title Crip Advisor. Jim LeBrecht will executive produce alongside Stu Richards and Michelle Singer, co-founders of Rockerdale Studios; and Stephanie Noonan Drachkovitch, co-founder and co-CEO of 44 Blue.

LeBrecht co-directed Netflix’s Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution alongside Nicole Newnham.

Mission: Accessible, which premiered on Channel 4 in the U.K. in 2020 and recently aired its second season, was hosted by British comedian Rosie Jones. The unscripted series promoted disability tourism through short travelogues in which Jones teamed up with fellow comedians and embarked on a mission to help people plan adventures for those with disabilities.

Noonan Drachkovitch said: “We are delighted to bring the format to viewers in the U.S. and to have the talented and trailblazing Jim LeBrecht join as executive producer. His achievements both in the filmmaking and disability rights spaces are immeasurable, and we could not be more honored to work with him.”

Singer said: “Rockerdale Studios is quickly evolving into a production indie that puts people with disabilities at the heart of our work—in Mission: Accessible 2, that included nearly 50 percent of the folk who made the show. Specifically, that includes director Stu Richards and host Rosie Jones, a duo that helps show that far from living up to their binary portrayal as victims or heroes, disabled people can occasionally be loud and annoying, too!”

LeBrecht said: “I believe that we are at a historic turning point around the representation of people with disabilities on television and film. It’s a natural progression in the types of shows we see that a disability-themed show can be mainstream and not just for the disabled themselves. Crip Advisor will be entertaining, edgy and funny—something that anyone would want to watch and tell their friends about. I’m especially proud to be part of a breakthrough show that has so many creatives with disabilities. Whereas we might not be quite ‘Jackass on wheels,’ expect our host and characters to explore the world of travel well outside the bounds of what one would expect.”
