TVFI Gears Up for Latin American Showcase

PARIS, December 7: TV France International is expecting more
than 60 buyers for its upcoming Latin American Showcase in Rio de Janeiro, set
for December 11 to 13 at the Sofitel Hotel.

Almost 30 French producers and distributors will be
showcasing their properties to buyers from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia,
Ecuador, Uruguay and Mexico. The event will also feature a roundtable
discussion on co-productions, co-organized with the Association of Brazilian
Producers (ABPI). Among the broadcasters represented at the round table are
Arte, France 5 and the National Center for Cinematography (CNC).

This is TVFI’s first Showcase in Rio. Earlier this year, the
organization targeted Latin American buyers with an event at NATPE in January.
TVFI’s members are looking to capitalize on the 20 percent gain in French
exports to Latin America in 2005. Brazil is the largest market in the region
for French productions, accounting for 38 percent of sales. Distributors slated
to take part include AB International Distribution, Europe Images/M5, Gédéon
Programmes, INA, Marathon International, Taffy Entertainment, TF1 International
and ZED.
