Channel 4 Named Channel of the Year at Edinburgh TV Awards

EDINBURGH: In a ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Channel 4 was named channel of the year, marking its first win since 2010.

Last year, ITV won channel of the year. Jay Hunt, the chief creative officer for Channel 4, said, "Winning channel of the year is the icing on the cake after an amazing 12 months for the channel and a fitting tribute to all the indies who have worked with us to deliver a raft of award-winning shows."

The other winners of the Edinburgh TV Awards, presented as part of the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, include Channel 4's The Murder Trial winning the program innovation award. The TV moment of the year was Educating Yorkshire, when Musharaf conquered his speech impediment. The producer/director debut award went to Marcelle Mettelsiefen for Children on the Frontline.

ITV's Richard Klein was named commissioner of the year. Big Talk Productions won for production company of the year. The "network & ones to watch" program choice award went to Game of Thrones.
