Global Screen Reports Strong Interest for Iron First, Sells Cobra 11 in Oz

CANNES: MIPTV served as the launch pad for Global Screen's new TV event movie Iron Fist, which garnered strong interest from buyers in Spain, Italy, France, the U.K. and Eastern Europe.

Global Screen also reports strong interest from buyers for the new RTL series Doctor Behind Bars.

The miniseries Pinocchio had a successful run at MIPTV, with sales to Norway (NRK Super) and Portugal (SIC). After having already been sold to free-TV station TF1, further deals for the French market were closed, with Canal+ acquiring pay-TV rights and SevenSept opting for home video and VOD.

The long-running Alarm for Cobra 11 has now entered the Australian market, with free-TV station SBS going for seasons 13 and 14. The romantic telenovela Storm of Love saw new episodes selling to Italy (RTI/Mediaset), Finland (MTV Oy), Latvia (Latvian TV), Estonia (TV3), Lithuania (TV3) and the Czech Republic (TV Barrandov), as well as Poland (Romance TV). Global Screen sold the home video and VOD rights for the feature Stalingrad into the U.K.

There were several deals secured from the company's documentary portfolio. Conquest of the Seven Seas was picked up by RAI in Italy, TV Prima in the Czech Republic and STV in Slovakia. The doc series Between Frontlines: ICRC Delegates at Work garnered interest from a variety of countries.

Global Screen secured several format sales as well. Ultimate Chart Show was picked up in Eastern Europe, while SchoolGirls was acquired in Ukraine. Runaway Kids: The Way Home is getting adapted in the Netherlands. Welcome to Nowhere, Doc! is headed to Russia. Crazy About Love is making its way to Greece.
