Channel 4 Goes for More Child Genius

LONDON: Channel 4 in the U.K. has lined up a second season of Child Genius, a competition series produced by Shed Media’s Wall to Wall.

Child Genius watches as a group of 5- to 12-year-old children with extremely high IQs compete to become the U.K.’s Child Genius of the Year. The 4×1-hour show, which will be executive produced by Mark Saben, is scheduled to return to Channel 4 in 2014. The first season aired on the network earlier this year.

Lucy Leveugle, the factual entertainment commissioning editor for Channel 4, commented: "After the success of the first series, Channel 4 is proud to highlight some more outstanding children and their families in this exploration of what it’s like to be considered a gifted child in the U.K. today."

Lyn Kendall, British Mensa’s gifted child consultant, added: "I was delighted with the feedback from the first series, particularly from schools who were keen to find out how they could support such children. In this second series I’m looking forward to finding children who are even more outstanding in terms of their interests and abilities. This continues to be a great opportunity to raise the profile of children who have the potential to become leaders in society."
