LONDON: The female-skewed cable network Lifetime is to make its European debut this fall, thanks to A+E Networks UK.

The network joins the A+E Networks UK channels HISTORY, H2 and Crime & Investigation in the country. Lifetime will be airing dramas, original movies and factual entertainment from the U.S. and U.K. In addition to hit U.S. titles such as Liz & Dick, The Client List and Dance Moms, the first local commission has been made for the channel. The Proposers, a fly-on-the-wall series from Alaska TV, is currently filming. The six-part series follows two businesswomen as they help stage elaborate wedding proposals for clients.

Tom Davidson, the managing director of A+E Networks UK, said: “Lifetime has already proved to be a huge success in the U.S. by offering audiences stand out entertaining, engaging and thoughtful programming. I am thrilled that the U.K. will be the first country in Europe to launch this popular channel, bringing viewers big-name Hollywood talent, both on and off-screen, as well as supporting the U.K. indie sector with original U.K. commissions.”
