LONDON: Roger Mosey, who has been leading the BBC’s London 2012 Olympics efforts, has been appointed acting director of BBC Vision, taking over for George Entwistle, who’s becoming the director-general of the BBC.

Mark Thompson, BBC director-general, announced the appointment in an email to BBC. "As you know, on Monday, September 17 George Entwistle becomes the next director-general of the BBC. George and I have agreed that it makes sense for him to step down as director of Vision later in August so that he can concentrate on preparation for the DG handover," the email read. "I’m pleased to tell you that Roger Mosey has accepted our joint invitation to become acting director of BBC Vision. He will start on Monday, August 20. I’m also pleased to tell you that Dave Gordon will take on Roger’s role as director of London 2012 for the duration of the Paralympics. Dave will also start his new role on Monday, August 20. The process of making a permanent appointment as director of Vision will begin later in the autumn."
