Eurovision Song Contest Draws 100 Million-Plus Viewers

GENEVA: The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) reports that 64 million viewers tuned in for the grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest, and another 39 million watched the semi-finals, making it the most watched entertainment program on TV in Europe.

The 57th Eurovision Song Content was broadcast live from Baku, Azerbaijan on May 22, 24 and 26. It featured contestants from 42 countries in and around Europe performing during live shows. Sweden’s Loreen won the contest with the song "Euphoria."

Jon Ola Sand, the executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: “We are happy that the Eurovision Song Contest unites European countries through music and entertainment like no other show and that its popularity remains strong.”

He continued: “We would also like to thank the host broadcaster, Ictimai TV, for putting on three spectacular shows.”
