New SVP of Acquisitions at Viasat Broadcasting

STOCKHOLM: Viasat Broadcasting has upped Jakob Mejlhede to the role of senior VP of acquisitions and programming, responsible for free- and pay-TV channels across 35 countries.

Mejlhede has been with the company for five years and takes on the new post with immediate effect. He is based in London and is responsible for all Viasat’s programming acquisitions and content development. He will manage a team of 50 people responsible for acquiring programming across the Viasat territories.

Jørgen Madsen, the executive VP of Nordic Broadcasting at Modern Times Group, said: “Jakob has been a senior member of the team and a top performer for several years now, so we are delighted that he is stepping into this newly created role to oversee the development of this key aspect of Viasat’s operations. Content is what drives our success as a TV broadcaster across multiple countries and distribution platforms, so it is essential that we have high-quality and experienced executives engaged in the day to day management of our portfolio of programming assets and sourcing new formats and channels. We have simultaneously strengthened our local programming and scheduling teams, which will continue to work closely with Jakob and his colleagues.”
