Sky1 Commissions Business Reality Competition

LONDON: The new competition series The Angel, commissioned by Sky1 from Twofour, gives would-be entrepreneurs an opportunity to compete for investment in their dream business.

Playing "the angel" is John Caudwell, from Stoke-on-Trent. He will scrutinize the proposals of aspiring entrepreneurs who are invited to compete for £100,000 worth of investment. The 5×1-hour series is produced by Twofour (Educating Essex, The Hotel Inspector, The Story of Musicals). Production starts immediately, with delivery slated for this summer on Sky1.

Stuart Murphy, the director of Sky1 HD, said: "I’m genuinely excited by the opportunity The Angel brings. Populist, audacious and life-changing, this is the first business show where the investor really has to put their money where their mouth is. Investors all say it’s about the person and not the business, and for the first time we’re going to test that theory."

Melanie Leach, the managing director of Twofour, added, "I’m thrilled to be partnering with Stuart on this project. It’s a truly unique format with a simple, compelling narrative at its heart. Together we’re taking big business to the shiny floor."

Caudwell commented, “Success can be down to the individual and his or her qualities, and the ability to deliver against an idea rather than the idea itself.
