TMG Ups Holding in Odeon Film

MUNICH: Tele München Group (TMG) has picked up around 850,000 additional shares in Odeon Film, upping its stake from 33 percent to more than 40 percent.

Odeon Film is one of Germany’s leading independent production companies, with a catalogue of around 78 TV series with approximately 2,600 episodes, 174 TV movies, 43 feature films and 20 documentaries. Among its lead titles are A Case for Two, The Country Doctor and The Prosecutor. The film library includes John Rabe, the adaptation of Erich Kästner’s famous children’s book The Flying Classroom, Sommer in Orange and Army Go Home. With the acquisition, TMG is now the second largest shareholder in Odeon.

Dr. Herbert Kloiber, the managing director and owner of TMG, said: "After the successful acquisition of 30 percent in Odeon Film in July this year, we are happy that the newly acquired share package brings our strategic partnership with Odeon Film to the next level in timely manner."
