Under its Audiovisual from Spain brand, ICEX has coordinated a number of activities in Series Mania Forum’s agenda, including a Pitching Breakfast and a Coming Next showcase.

At the Pitching Breakfast, five Spanish projects will be presented, specially selected according to the needs indicated by their producers and creators. The programs to be introduced are The Residence Hall, from Fedent España; Lucio’s Treasure, from Friki Films; Fake, from Mediacrest; Halfbreeds, from Onza; and Play of Mirrors, from Vértice 360.

The Coming Next from Spain showcase will offer a sneak peek at Spanish dramas to come, including The Route, from Atresmedia Televisión; The Age of Anger, from The Mediapro Studio; Rapa, from Movistar Plus+; and Peace Force, from Televisión Española. The session will be moderated by María Rua Aguete, senior research director of media and entertainment at Omdia (U.K.).

Detective Touré is the only Spanish project that will compete in the Co-Pro Pitching Sessions for the €50,000 ($55,000) development prize. The series is an adaptation of Jon Arretxe’s literary saga and is written by David Pérez Sañudo and Carlos Vila. It is produced by Mariela Besuievsky and Elena Bort for Tornasol Media and DeAPlaneta.

A Case Study & Screening session will be held for Operación Marea Negra, detailing its innovative financing model in a panel discussion with Mamen Quintas (Ficción Producciones), Ricardo Cabornero (Amazon), Fernando Ojea (CRTVG), José Fragoso (RTP), Noel Hedges (eOne) and the leading actor Álex González. The session will be moderated by Mamen Casal (Ficción Producciones).

Lastly, The Mediapro Studio’s Ran Tellem, head of international development, will discuss the process of creating a second season of The Head and what lessons and practices should be put in place to anticipate for eventual second seasons.

Around 20 companies and 50 executives are set to take part in the pavilion organized by ICEX, which will take place at the Lille Grand Palais from March 22 to 24.
