Max Conze has stepped down as CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media, effective immediately, as the European media group refocuses its business on its entertainment segment.

CFO Rainer Beaujean has taken on the additional role of chairman of the executive board. Wolfgang Link, co-CEO of the entertainment segment, and Christine Scheffler, chief HR officer, have joined the executive board.

The company is shifting its primary focus back to the entertainment sector in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with an emphasis on local and live formats, in close collaboration with Red Arrow Studios and Studio71. The digital reach will be extended, including Joyn. The company says that the commerce segment, NuCom, “remains an important pillar.”

Beaujean commented, “This company has far greater potential than is currently credited to it from outside. Under the leadership of the new executive board team, we will now return to focusing more strongly on our core segment of entertainment and on sustainably profitable business. While the corona pandemic poses a huge challenge for us in the weeks and months ahead, I firmly believe that we will emerge from this crisis all the stronger and return to generating shareholder value.”
