StarzPlay has acquired for the U.K. Four Weddings and a Funeral, Mindy Kaling’s ten-part romantic-comedy series adaptation of the iconic film.

In the series, Maya (Natalie Emmanuel), a New York-based political communications director, moves to London after crossing the Atlantic to visit with her ex-pat college pals. Personal crises abound for the young professionals—from messy romances, tested friendships and professional woes—as they attend four weddings and a funeral. Four Weddings and a Funeral is slated to launch in the U.K. on StarzPlay on Thursday, December 12.

In addition to Emmanuel (Game Of Thrones), the series stars Nikesh Patel (India Summer), John Reynolds (Stranger Things), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Brandon Mychal Smith (The Most Hated Woman In America) and Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey). Andie MacDowell and Dermot Mulroney, who starred in the original film, also feature in the series.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is produced by MGM Television and Universal Television, with MGM serving as the lead studio. It is executive produced by Kaling, Tracey Wigfield, Richard Curtis, Jonathan Prince, Matt Warburton, Howard Klein of 3Arts Entertainment, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall (episodes one and two).
