The Scotland-based indie STV Productions has appointed Josephine Brassey to the role of head of development of entertainment.

Brassey is currently the head of international development at 12 Yard Productions, overseeing the international rollout of a number of shows, including Big Star’s Little Star, I’ll Get This and Think Tank. In the U.K., she has secured commissions for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, including the long-running BBC quiz show Perfection.

Headed up by Gary Chippington, STV Productions’ entertainment team has delivered such shows as Catchphrase for ITV and, most recently, the relationship series Sex Tape for Channel 4.

Brassey’s appointment is part of a three-year growth plan, through which the business is investing £15 million ($19 million) in content and digital to strengthen STV’s creative position in Scotland. The company recently announced the appointment of Craig Hunter as creative director of factual and Ramy El-Bergamy as head of development for daytime and popular factual.

David Mortimer, managing director of STV Productions, said: “Josephine has a great track record in developing hit entertainment programs and I am delighted to welcome her to the team. Entertainment will be a key focus for us as we pursue our goal of establishing STV Productions as a major industry player over the next few years.”
