StarzPlay to Take The Act to the U.K., Germany & Spain

The true-crime anthology series The Act is set to land in the U.K., Germany and Spain, exclusively on the premium streaming service StarzPlay.

The eight-part debut season will be available on StarzPlay to local viewers in the U.K. via Prime Video Channels and Virgin Media, in Germany via Prime Video Channels and in Spain via Vodafone and Orange TV. The Act, from Universal Content Productions, will premiere on the service on Friday, June 14.

Starring Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Chloë Sevigny and AnnaSophia Robb, season 1 of The Act is based on the 2016 BuzzFeed article “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom Murdered,” written by Michelle Dean. It follows the real-life story of a girl named Gypsy Blanchard (King), who is trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her mother (Arquette) and whose quest for freedom ultimately leads to murder.
