AMC Networks has launched its premium video-streaming service Shudder in Germany and Austria.

Highlights for the launch in Germany and Austria include the Shudder original Missions and the streaming premiere of the critically acclaimed three-part series Beyond the Walls. The German premiere of the series adaptation of the Australian horror classic Wolf Creek, as well as the Shudder original talk series The Core, hosted by genre director Mickey Keating (Psychopaths, Carnage Park), will complete the library by the end of the year.

Since its U.S. launch in 2015, Shudder has expanded into Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.

Behind the hand-curated selection are Sam Zimmerman, former editor of the cult magazine Fangoria, and Colin Geddes, with his 20 years of experience in organizing the Toronto International Film Festival’s “Midnight Madness.”

Linda Pan, the senior VP of new digital business at AMC Networks, commented: “We’re incredibly excited to expand Shudder into the German and Austrian markets. These launches represent the growing demand for our unparalleled offering in the genre category and we look forward to ongoing global expansion.”

She continued, “We are proud of our German and Austrian launch programming lineup and are excited to grow our already robust library on a regular basis post-launch.”

Zimmerman commented: “Germany and Austria have their own unique genre fans and it’s been an exciting process as we curated content for this specific regional audience, further establishing Shudder as the premier destination for thriller, suspense and horror programming. We’re uniquely positioned to cater to these genre fans and we aim to continue our mantra of being thrilling and provocative as we launch in these new territories.”
