BUDAPEST/NEW YORK: A deal between AMC Networks International (AMCNI) – Central Europe and United Group will see wider exposure for AMC across both cable and DTH platforms in the Balkans.

AMC will now reach nearly 1 million new homes in the region, doubling the channel’s existing coverage there. Under the new affiliate deal, AMC is now available in the basic-cable package of Serbia Broadband in Serbia and is offered to Total TV subscribers in Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia, which expanded AMC’s distribution to all United Group platforms. As part of the partnership, AMCNI CE’s Minimax channel will be carried in new households in Bosnia, on top of its existing coverage.

Mike Moriarty, the president of AMC Networks International for Central Europe and the U.K., said: “We are very pleased to broaden our strategic partnership with United Group, as widening our flagship channels’ distribution on their platforms is a significant step for both AMC’s and Minimax’s regional expansion. We see the Balkan region as one of the fastest-growing pay-TV markets in Europe and it is a main priority for us to continue the development in this region in 2017.”

Suzana Radosevic, content management director of United Group, added: “We are pleased to partner with AMC Networks International – Central Europe to bring AMC to all our platforms. The channel’s premium original series content is a perfect addition to our diverse channel lineup and will further strengthen our rich offering to our audience.”
