MADRID: An SVOD channel focused on gaming and eSports is set to launch in Spain and Portugal following a new partnership between AMC Networks International (AMCNI) Iberia and digital video giant Machinima.

The new channel will roll out on pay-TV platforms, smart TVs and the Android and iOS app stores in Spain and Portugal. Programming highlights will include Machinima’s Street Fighter: Resurrection, Training Camp, The Bacca Chronicles and the upcoming Transformers: The Combiner Wars.

“This partnership enables us to offer our clients the opportunity to reach Millennials, a community passionate about video games, animation, movies, TV and other forms of pop culture, who will find in this channel their main entertainment source,” said Eduardo Zulueta, the president of AMC Networks International Iberia and Latin America. “Machinima is a worldwide gaming authority and we are delighted to add this exciting channel to our portfolio.”

“Heroes, eSports and video gaming are the new pillars of pop culture on a global scale and Machinima is the most notorious purveyor of this type of content in the world,” said James Glasscock, Machinima’s senior VP of strategy and business development. “AMC Networks International is the number one network group throughout Spain and Portugal, and the combination of our brand and content with their reach is going to be a huge win for Millennials in those areas.”
