Netflix UK Takes Australian Musical Comedy Series

SYDNEY: Netflix in the U.K. has acquired the Australian musical comedy show Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane, the first TV series for the comedy duo.

Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane follows two mismatched housemates from the comedy team Sammy J & Randy. Sammy J is a down-and-out lawyer who still hasn’t won a case after six years. Randy, a purple puppet, is a cheating, gambling divorcee. Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane also stars Nathan Lovejoy (This is Littleton, At Home with Julia), Georgia Chara (Wentworth, Home and Away) and Samantha Healy (Mrs Biggs, McLeod’s Daughters).

The six-part series from Australian production house Sticky Pictures in association with ABC TV, Film Victoria and Screen Australia debuted in Oz late last year on ABC TV. The show is also part of the lineup on NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises’s U.S. comedy platform Seeso.
