FremantleMedia International Taps Warner Bros. Exec for Sales Role

LONDON: FremantleMedia International (FMI) has appointed Al De Azpiazu as VP of sales and distribution for Western Europe, joining the company from Warner Bros. International Television Production.

De Azpiazu will be reporting to Jamie Lynn, the executive VP for sales and distribution for EMEA. De Azpiazu will be charged with further exploring exploitation opportunities for FMI’s 22,000 hours of premium scripted and non-scripted content across France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

De Azpiazu previously served as executive director for sales at Warner Bros. International Television Production, having been promoted twice since joining the company in 2010 as sales development executive and then director for sales. His responsibilities included finished program distribution across EMEA and Latin America, as well as format distribution in Southern Europe and Latin America. De Azpiazu has held positions with Cadena SER, Televisió de Catalunya and Mediapro.

Lynn said, “As FMI continues to grow its outstanding pipeline of drama and non-scripted programming, these European markets will continue to play a pivotal role. Al has a great track record and deep understanding of the region. I’m excited to welcome Al to the FMI team and look forward to working with him as we further grow our Western European business.”
