French OTT Molotov Scores Channel Deals

PARIS: The French OTT platform Molotov, which was created by Jean-David Blanc and Pierre Lescure, has secured deals with more than 80 channels ahead of its launch.

The platform was announced in June by Blanc, the founder of French cinema entertainment service AlloCiné, and Lescure, founder of CANAL+. Ahead of its planned launch, Molotov has secured distribution deals with around 90 percent of the main TV channels in France. Its partners include TF1, France Télévisions, net Arte DTT and cablers such as Nextradio TV, Lagardère Active, La Chaine Parlementaire, Public Sénat, Groupe AB, Disney Channel, Turner, Viacom, Euronews, France 24, TV5 Monde, TRACE Media Group, Gong média, Nolife, Nautical Channel, Les Chaines Interactives, Fashion TV and Luxe TV.

Announcing the launch of Molotov, its founders declared, “The essence of Molotov is to lead the distribution of TV channels and programs in a new direction, better reflecting their quality and diversity, and bringing traditional television into the internet era.”
