LONDON: BBC Worldwide has for the first time struck a deal with YouTube talent, teaming up with vloggers Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee for an exclusive commission.

That project, titled Joe & Caspar Hit the Road, will be a one-off 75-minute-plus show set for purchase starting November 23 in the U.K. and Ireland via DVD and EST platforms only. It will also be made available for download in international markets such as the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Made by the production team behind BBC Worldwide’s Top Gear special commissions, Joe & Caspar Hit the Road will see the vloggers embark on an epic European adventure. The duo will be offering themselves up for employment in a series of unusual tasks such as learning to be gondoliers in Venice, working as deckhands on a super yacht and performing on Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas.

Dominic Smales, founder of Gleam Futures, said: “I am absolutely delighted to see Joe and Caspar taking this significant step forward in their careers and we are so pleased to be partnering with BBC Worldwide to make it happen. This is a significant stake in the ground for the evolution of content in this space.”

Paul Hembury, executive producer, remarked: “We are thrilled to be working with Joe and Caspar and this exclusive brand-new, full-length program will be a must-have for their fans.”
