LONDON: Turner Broadcasting has named former UKTV exec Dan Fahy as its senior director of commercial development for the U.K. and Northern Europe.

Fahy will work out of the company’s EMEA headquarters in London, reporting directly to Ian McDonough, the senior VP and managing director of Northern Europe. In his newly created role, Fahy will lead the commercial strategy for Turner in the U.K. and help guide and implement strategy in the Nordic countries alongside the local team. Additionally, the exec will be responsible for maximizing revenues and identifying, evaluating and delivering opportunities for all of Turner’s channels across its kids' and general entertainment portfolio, including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TNT, truTV and TCM.

His other responsibilities will include implementing a digital distribution strategy for VOD services, OTT and other non-linear platforms. He will lead and manage all commercial and distribution agreements with linear pay and free-to-air platforms, including contract renewals and negotiations. Fahy joins Turner from UKTV, where he served as director of commercial and business development.

“We are delighted to welcome Dan—it’s a challenging and exciting position as the company is perfectly poised for future growth,” said McDonough. “In addition to growing revenues across existing channels, this critical role will evaluate opportunities presented by new technologies and distribution partners, including wireless and interactive service providers.”
