MAINZ: Enterprises Sonor, a joint venture between ZDF Enterprises and Bavaria Media, is jumping into the music field after acquiring more than 1,000 titles from musician Eberhard Schoener.

The rights pickup sets the stage for Sonor to enter the music-production industry. The studio also holds a few other productions by famous artists, with other titles in a preparation phase. Schoener has composed music for more than 300 film and TV productions, and has also worked with artists such as Sting, Procol Harum, Gianna Nannini, Andrea Bocelli and Deep Purple.

Rolf Moser, Enterprises Sonor’s managing director, said: “We will build an impressive production music catalogue with a spectrum ranging from world music to jazz/rock and children’s songs. Our publishing team and our experienced consultant, Corinna C. Poeszus, formerly general manager at Universal Publishing Production Music, are highly motivated to continue our success in the publishing of original film music and in the marketing of already existing film music. We focus exclusively on premium quality and well-known artists, as well as fair remuneration models. We offer an attractive alternative to the interchangeable mass productions and royalty-free catalogues that flood this market.”

Schoener remarked: “The work was an extremely intensive analysis of all my compositional work. The challenge was to select, compile and technically prepare suitable recordings in order to create a work of art of both classical and modern film music from my extensive oeuvre. The professional and personal cooperation with the Enterprises Sonor team was a stroke of luck.”
